Caulfield Racecourse Melbourne

Caulfield Racecourse is best known for being the home track of the Caulfield Cup, a 2400-metre Group 1 handicap race for horses three years old or more. An outstanding race in the Caulfield Cup may qualify a horse to run in the Melbourne Cup.

The Caulfield Racecourse lies about a half-hour drive southeast of the Melbourne city centre and within short walking distance from Caulfield train station.

2080 metres with a straight of 367 metres.
First Caulfield Cup race:
The first Caulfield Cup was run in 1879 and won by Newminster.

Getting to the racecourse:
By car: 20-30 minutes from Melbourne city centre along Dandenong Rd or the South Eastern Arterial. The turnoff to the racecourse is clearly signposted. Free parking is available.

By train: Caulfield station, a short walk to the racecourse, is along the Frankston and Dandenong train lines. Trains leave about every 10 minutes from Flinders St Station.
