Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel is within easy walking distance of North Sydney railway station.
Walk north on Miller St from the railway station, then turn left into Mount St. That imposing building over whose porch stands a statue of the Sacred Heart is Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel.
Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel is the heart of Mary MacKillop Place, which includes a museum celebrating the life, work and spirituality of Blessed Mary MacKillop, Australian candidate for sainthood. Mary MacKillop Place also includes facilities for education, accommodation and venues for retreats and conferences.
Enter the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel building and you find it divided into nave and aisles by white chiselled pillars, from which arches support the roof.
The front panel of the altar contains a carved relief in marble of the Last Supper.
Mary MacKillop's tomb is located to the right side of the altar.
The chapel is open daily from 10am to 4pm.
Mary MacKillop, founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Scared Heart, was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1995 and may become Australia's first saint.
