Right in the heart of Sydney, Hyde Park is an ideal place to start a walking tour to Darling Harbour, taking in Market St and its shops and Sydney Tower, then crossing over to Queen Victoria Building, Town Hall, St Andrew's Cathedral, and on to the many attractions of Darling Harbour.

The area around the Archibald Fountain at the northern end of Hyde Park is popular with both visitors and Sydneysiders alike. This fountain, with its carved statues from Greek mythology, was bequeathed to the city by founding editor John Feltham Archibald (1856-1919) of the Australian newsweekly The Bulletin. The fountain commemorates the association of France and Australia in World War I.

Walk from Hyde Park to Market St. Sydney department stores David Jones and Myer (formerly Grace Bros) and the Westfield Shopping complex are to be found here. Then it's time to reach for the sky...
