Initiated by the Sydney Chinese community to celebrate Australia's 1988 bicentenary, the Chinese Garden is the result of a bond of friendship and cooperation between the sister cities of Sydney in Australia and Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, China.
The one-hectare garden was crafted using Chinese and Australian expertise and materials. It was officially opened in January 1988 by representatives of both governments.
Except for Good Friday and Christmas Day, the Chinese Garden of Friendship is open daily from 9.30am to 5pm. There is an entry fee.
A teahouse located within the garden is open from 10am to 4.30pm.
