Riverside Theatre is the main performing arts venue in the Riverside Theatres complex in the western Sydney suburb of Parramatta. Performances take place in the main Riverside Theatre, the smaller Lennox and Raffertys Theatres, and occasionally in the courtyard.
The Riverside complex is located in the Parramatta city block bounded by the Parramatta River and Church, Market and Marsden Sts with the theatre's main entrance on Church St beside the river.
The Riverside Theatres complex is within walking distance of bus stops, train station and ferry wharf. If driving, metered street parking and a public carpark on Erby Place off Phillip St are close to the theatre.
NOTE: Available street parking spaces are often difficult to find since Church St south of Riverside Theatre is a place of restaurants and most parking spaces are occupied at night by diners and in the daytime by shoppers and business visitors. Discounted carpark charges are available to Riverside Theatre patrons on Saturday and Sunday and after 6pm on weekdays. You probably need your carpark ticket validated at the theatre or you may need to show your theatre ticket at the carpark.
If going by train from the Sydney city centre, catch the western line at Wynyard, Town Hall or Central Station. From Parramatta train station, exit on Darcy St. Walk left (west) on Darcy St, then turn right (north) into Church St. The southern part of Church St is a malled pedestrian area. Continue on Church St until you reach Lennox Bridge across Parramatta River. The theatre complex is just across the bridge. This is about a 10-minute walk.
If going by bus from the Sydney city centre, take bus L20 or 520 from Circular Quay. The bus stop nearest the theatre is in front of the Brandsmart Shopping Centre.
You can also go to Parramatta from Circular Quay by river ferry. From Parramatta ferry wharf, follow the pathway alongside the river to Church St by Lennox Bridge. NOTE: If attending a nighttime performance at Riverside Theatres, there may be no ferries to Circular Quay after 7pm, so your best bet would be to head south to Parramatta train station and take the train.
